beginners guide

Midnight Ghost Hunt is a multiplayer hide and seek game.

Team up with your friends to hunt or be hunted! You play as HUNTERS or GHOSTS in fast paced 4v4 matches situated across a variety of maps. It’s hunt or be hunted in fast paced action!

Team GHOSTS can possess everyday objects and have to hide from the hunters until the Midnight phase, where it’ll be safer for them to attack. The HUNTERS have an arsenal of gizmos and gadgets to help them track and eliminate Team Ghost before the Midnight Phase.

TEAM HUNTER: OBJECTIVE OVERVIEW

The object of the game before midnight is to find and kill all the enemy ghosts! After midnight, the tables turn and it is your job to stay alive long enough for you / your team to escape!

When midnight hits, the ghosts now hunt you! Do whatever it takes to survive long enough for evac to arrive.

A big part of successfully hunting/surviving is using the generator, make sure you keep it safe. The generator is where Hunters can change their loadout. Why not change to a Defibrillator to revive a fallen teammate, or even swap to Coldblooded to help you hide after midnight?!

TEAM HUNTER: WEAPONS

Weapons are a permanent part of a Hunter’s loadout and their main source of damage.

Spectral Cannon
A standard issue hunter weapon that has the added bonus of vacuuming up knocked out ghosts so they cannot be revived.

Project X
Fast firing machine gun, be sure to time your shots carefully because it can overheat!

Harpoon Bazooka
Shoots a harpoon that can trap ghosts in place for a few seconds. It also does a small amount of shock damage over time. Great support weapon! Try to trap a ghost while your teammates come in for the killing blow!

Reaper
Reaper is our take on a sniper rifle! Equipped with a scope, it is quite capable of taking out Ghosts from afar if you are a crack shot. It fires a small dart that deals a medium amount of damage on strike, and will explode 3 seconds later for large damage. The Ghost must possess another object quickly  to prevent this damage.

Ghostsmasher
Our first melee weapon! Ghostsmasher has limited range and no battery or ammo to worry about. It is very strong versus Ghosts in their base Ghost form, but weak against physical props the Ghosts may be hiding in.

Sledgehammer
The opposite of Ghostsmasher, the mighty Sledgehammer is strong against physical objects and can break them quickly. However, it does not do much damage to Ghosts in their base form.

Salt Shotgun
Anti-Ghost double-barreled shotgun. Spews salt shakers in a cone. High damage close up. Has a knockback effect.

Frostbite
Supercooled frost SMG. Each shot slows a prop down. High damage to Ghost form.

TEAM HUNTER: GADGETS

Gadgets are added to your main-game loadout to assist you during your hunt.

Radar
Radar is a GHOST DETECTING GADGET. As you get closer to Ghostly activity, the higher the reading will be. However, it is not very accurate and can only give you a rough idea of where to search further. It can also be mislead by Ghostly mischief occasionally.

Spectrophone
Spectrophone tracks Ghosts through directionality. Does not give any indication of how close they are, only if they are in front of you somewhere.

Pathfinder
Pathfinder is a GHOST DETECTING GADGET. Looking through the monitor you can see Ghostly footprints that will lead you to Ghosts that may have moved recently. Footprints last about 30 seconds so you know it’s a fresh one. As always, it can also be mislead by Ghostly mischief occasionally, but generally it is trustworthy.

Vacuum
Use the Vacuum to clean up destroyed Ghost shards to prevent a Ghost reviving before Midnight.

Trap
Trap is a TRAPPING GADGET. It will stop a Ghost in its tracks when nearby. Does not do much damage but can hold them down and prevent them from possessing away. It can be broken by Ghost attacks, you can get another one at the Generator.

Grenade
Grenade is an OFFENSIVE GADGET. A simple anti-Ghost grenade that can be thrown. Can be partially cooked. Explosion does high damage to Ghosts.

Defibrillator
Defibrillator is a SUPPORT GADGET. Use these to revive your fallen Hunters! Beware, Ghosts might be camping nearby and take you out when you come to revive your teammate.

Grappling Hook
Grappling Hook is a MOBILITY GADGET. Hurl yourself across the map with the grappling hook! Very strong on maps with lots of verticality. Good for chasing Ghosts that hurl themselves up to a new platform, or escaping Ghosts chasing you after Midnight.

C4
C4 explosives attach to Ghosts and props, causing massive damage.

TEAM HUNTER: PERKS

Perks are part of your main game loadout that will assist you during your hunt.

Lightweight
This MOBILITY PERK lets you sprint faster, but you are more fragile.

Juggernaut
This SURVIVABILITY PERK gives you more health and stun resistance, but you are slower and cannot sprint.

Cold Blooded
This SURVIVABILITY PERK means you can not be seen through walls after Midnight or if the Ghost uses Perception perk. However, if they get close enough, you will be seen. So stay on the move!

Healing Aura
Heal yourself and nearby teammates over time.

Extended Mag
Weapons with ammo have extra rounds before needing to reload.

Extra Gear

Gadgets with ammo have extra items before needing to go back to Generator to resupply.

Quick Reload
Weapons with a reload will reload quicker.

TEAM GHOST: OBJECTIVES

Team Ghost’s objective is to use props to hide from the Ghost Hunters and prevent the Hunters from escaping during the Midnight Phase.

Ghosts will be able to knock out the Hunters if they attack with the props, however, Ghosts will do less damage before the Midnight Phase is started and they’re powered up. Sometimes it’s smarter to remain hidden, or coordinate with your team to attack a Hunter who is by themselves!

Ghosts can change their loadout at any time by visiting the ‘Shrine’ located across the map!

TEAM GHOST: ABILITIES EXPLAINED

Abilities are part of your main game loadout to assist you.

Phantom
This ESCAPE ABILITY will “cloak” you for a short time and make you harder to detect. Use this to slip away from the Hunters during a chase.

Spirit
This ESCAPE ABILITY will transform a Ghost into a spirit orb! Use this to escape horizontally or vertically by flying.

Miasma
This ESCAPE ABILITY will emit a deadly ghost mist that will damage hunters and traps. Use this to escape those tight spots!

Doppelganger
This DISTRACT ABILITY lets a Ghost become a clone of a nearby hunter! Use this to disguise and attack. Be careful, as attacking will expose yourself.

Poltergeist
This DISTRACT ABILITY makes an object float menacingly. If a Hunter approaches, it will hurl itself at the Hunter automatically, causing damage. One bullet to the prop will cause it to fall, however.

Corruptor
This TRAP ABILITY corrupts unprocessed objects. Objects explode when struck. Use this to counter melee damage.

Apparition
Spawn a fake ghost that will run randomly to distract Hunters.

Trickster
Can remotely move a prop to a specified location, looking like a Ghost player.

Telekinesis
Can remotely hurl a prop at a Hunter, distracting and causing damage.

Death Grip
Spawn a hidden Hand Trap that will hold Hunters in place if walked over. Can be destroyed and seen before activation, taking the form of a small energy puddle on the ground.

TEAM GHOST: HAUNTS EXPLAINED

Haunts are abilities that activate once a ghost has been eliminated.

Chill
This SUPPORT HAUNT will chill nearby hunters and slow them temporarily. Use this to help your teammates escape.

Cold Spot
This DISTRACT HAUNT creates false radar readings to mislead Hunters using Radar. Best used away from friendly ghosts.

False Trail
This DISTRACT HAUNT creates false footprint readings behind you to mislead Hunters using Pathfinder. Use this to create a path near Hunters and away from teammates.

Medium
This DISTRACT HAUNT allows you to use ‘area voice chat’ to distract and mislead Hunters. Use this near a group of Hunters and make misleading call outs.

Push Object
Pushes objects and closes doors, causing a distraction to Hunters.

Health Orb
Spawn a quick healing orb for your teammates that are still “alive”.

Hallucinate
Play a random Ghost sound that Hunters can hear, confusing and distracting them. Affects Spectrophone.

Shove Hunter
Shove Hunters around you. Try knocking them off a ledge!

TEAM GHOST: PERKS EXPLAINED

Perks are part of your main game loadout that will assist you in battle.

Ghostly Reach
This MOBILITY PERK increases your range for possession. This also works on ‘Poltergeist’. Use this to escape and relocate.

Ecto-slow
This HIDING PERK will reduce the rate of ectoplasm build up making you less visible to ‘Radar’ when hiding. This does not affect footprints.

Shatterproof
A MOBILITY PERK used to prevent shattering on impact. Good for escaping by slingshotting away. Only affects medium/small props.

Heavyweight
This is a SURVIVABILITY PERK that makes all objects more durable. Does not change your attack speed. Use for aggressive plays.

Ghostly Focus
This UTILITY PERK grants shorter cooldowns on abilities, including Haunt abilities after elimination. Does not change your possess or attack.

Perception
A UTILITY PERK grants the ability to see Hunters and Traps through walls before the Midnight Phase. Coldblooded users will only show when close enough. Use it to communicate locations with your team.

Untrappable
This SURVIVABILITY PERK reduces length of time trapped. However, trap damage is increased slightly. Useful to escape a team using lots of traps.

Glutton
Glutton lets you revive fellow Ghosts and consume Hunter souls faster.
